Based on Robert Ludlum's hugely successful trio of conspiracy novels, director Doug Liman (Swingers, Go) delivers a superior spy thriller with a series of gripping espionage thrills including flashy fight scenes, the best Mini action since The Italian Job and an explosive love story to match.

The film opens as Jason Bourne (Academy Award winner Matt Damon - Good Will Hunting, Saving Private Ryan, Oceans Eleven) is rescued from the sea by fishermen, nearly dying and with total amnesia. He carries only the bullets in his back and a bank account number implanted in his hip. Bourne soon discovers he has a talent for fighting, linguistics and self-defence, which indicates a dangerous past.

Bourne goes on the run to Paris on a quest to reveal his identity, and soon discovers he is being chased by strangers determined to kill him. He befriends a German wanderer, Marie Kreutz (Franka Potente - Run Lola Run, Blow), who helps him explore why his life has taken such a perilous turn.

Other great supporting cast include UK talent Clive Owen (Croupier, Gosford Park, Chancer) and Brian Cox (Braveheart, L.I.E), plus Chris Cooper (American Beauty, The Patriot).

Filmed entirely in Europe (Prague, Paris and Italy) and taking almost 8 million at the UK box office, The Bourne Identity is an intelligent international spy thriller based on charismatic characters and their complex relationships, resulting in an unconventional but dynamic 21st Century action movie.
